Luke 9:17

After reading Luke 9:17, I was so inspired and felt led to make this great meal of bread and fish. The fish just has olive oil, bay leaves, some cumin and pine nuts inside. It was broiled on both sides for about 7 minutes. This verse stuck out to me because of how simple and yet amazing it is. Jesus feeds five thousand people by breaking five loaves and two fish. It is really a testament to how he broke his body for us and can feed so many people. Also, it's amazing that Jesus was so caring for people's needs. His apostles had just returned from a long missionary journey. Jesus was probably eager to hear from and encourage them, "and they withdrew by themselves to a town called Bethsaida, but the crowds learned about it and followed him. He welcomed them and spoke to them about the kingdom of God, and healed those who needed healing" (Luke 9: 10-11). Jesus could have been tired or upset by the crowds, but instead of neglecting other's needs and putting His first, He served others and cared for their needs. I look at this and realize that in Christ I can serve others, and not out of my own strength. When I am with God, He can love others forever and completely, and through me, rather than me trying to love them by myself! This has been revealed to me in so many ways this past couple of weeks. God's love is unconditional and always available! I love the last verse too, in Luke 9:17, where it says, "They all ate and were satisfied, and the disciples picked up twelve basketfuls of broken pieces that were left over."
