Rice Cakes

Now you can have your cake and eat it too. In this sense, you can have fun making rice cakes, and get the benefit of additional healthy ingredients. Although, the metaphor is really about being in Christ! God sent His Holy Spirit to live in us forever. Paul, an apostle (from the Greek, apóstolos or literally, one who is sent) of Christ Jesus writes, “Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body” (1 Corinthians 6:19-20). Before Jesus returned to heaven for a while, He promised the Holy Spirit to be with all of us. He told His disciples, “When the Counselor comes whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who goes out from the Father, he will testify about me. And you also must testify, for you have been with me from the beginning” (John 15:26-27). Therefore, it is not by our own effort that we have the Holy Spirit, it is rather by allowing Him to live in us, so we can share Him with others (Romans 9:16). Jesus said, “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age” (Matthew 28:19-20). I’ve mentioned these verses a couple of times because of how beautiful they are! Jesus wants to establish His kingdom on earth as it is in heaven, in Him. However, we should already experience His kingdom in us now (Luke 17:21) and share Him with others until He does come again. For truly, He is coming again! (Revelation 22)

To make the rice cakes, first wash the rice. Afterwards, put into a large pot (or rice maker) with twice the amount of water. Cover and let simmer for 10-15 minutes. When finished, combine with the other ingredients in a large bowl. (To make the custom breadcrumbs, mince some bread, or put it diced into a blender.) Take the whole mixture and shape into some 3 1/2 inch cakes. Pat with flour on a plate and sear each side for 3 minutes over high heat. Reduce the heat, cover and let steam until complete. Enjoy your God now and forever too!

3 Tbsp cilantro

1/4 lemon
